Hewlett-Packard revenue fall on strong dollar

US personal computer large Hewlett-Packard has noted a fall in profits in the previous quarter and said the strengthening greenback was most likely to harm its finances this yr.
The business, in the midst of a years-long turnaround work, said income in the three months ending January 31 dropped 4pc to $ 1.4bn.
Earnings fell 5pc to $ 26.8bn, in component thanks to currency adjustments.

But HP also explained the greater dollar has cut into its outcomes and that might impact the organization above the coming calendar year, because earnings attained overseas will deliver fewer pounds.
“While we were able to deal with the influence of currency in the quarter and supply earnings as predicted, we think the influence on [this] fiscal calendar year will be significantly increased than we predicted in November,” Ms Whitman mentioned.
